Montpellier: a Sunday of speed discovering the Mediterranean district

This Sunday, April 6th, the Vélocité association invites you to rediscover the Méditerranée district of Montpellier during a day dedicated to active mobility. Workshops to get back on the bike, family bike rides, and neighborhood discovery are on the agenda to make this day a true cycling celebration. Whether you’re a seasoned urban cyclist or a novice, come enjoy this event and discover a vibrant neighborhood while sharing a friendly atmosphere. A day dedicated to active mobility On Sunday, April 6th, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Place François Jaumes will be the meeting point for all cycling enthusiasts and those curious to celebrate active mobility with Vélocité. With the support of local partners such as the Ville et Vélo store and the Le Vieux Biclou association, this day is a unique opportunity to promote cycling as an efficient and environmentally friendly mode of transportation on the streets of Montpellier.
A varied program for all levels
Starting at 9:00 a.m., residents can meet the various associations present and interact with the passionate volunteers. At 10:30 a.m., a two-hour family ride will introduce you to the hidden charms of the Méditerranée district. Creativity enthusiasts are also invited to participate in the wild bike competition at 12 p.m., decorating their bikes for a colorful parade.
Reclaiming Cycling in an Urban Environment
At 2 p.m., a « Dare to Cycle in the City » workshop will be offered to help participants regain confidence in their cycling abilities in an urban environment. Beginning with a quick bike diagnostic, this workshop will then review traffic rules and practice good cycling practices on the road, culminating in a safe group ride. (Re)Discovering the Méditerranée district The family outing will offer an in-depth exploration of the unexplored surroundings of the Méditerranée district. This dynamic and lively area, adorned with streets planted by its residents, is home to numerous works of street art, transforming the streets into a veritable open-air museum. An enriching experience for young and old alike.
Celebrating soft mobility together
The day will conclude at 4:30 p.m. with a friendly aperitif, allowing participants to share their experiences and build bonds around their shared passion for cycling. Throughout the day, visitors can also stop by the Vélocité stand to learn more about the association and chat with its dedicated volunteers.
