Celebration of International Women’s Day
On the occasion of International Women’s Day, March 8, Montpellier welcomes « Les Voies Traversées », an initiative that pays tribute to the talent and courage of women. Three captivating places serve as a stage for this event: La Mosson, Figuerolles and Méditerranée. Here, feminine creativity is honored through exhibitions of local artists, contemporary dance performances, and poetic haikus. The goal is to make feminine voices resonate and demonstrate their impact on our collective culture. « Les Voies Traversées » thus becomes a crossroads of cultures, where diversity and feminine creativity in all its forms are celebrated.
A rich and varied program
Montpellier affirms its pioneering role by offering a rich and accessible program for all. In collaboration with local associations such as Esprit Libre and the Yeobi Federation, and the passionate commitment of artivist Françoise from the block, the event allows you to discover women with inspiring careers through various artistic mediums. Photographs that bring together writings and images, striking collage works, but also artistic performances are organized to consider culture from a new and inclusive angle. Women honored in the city
The City of Montpellier takes advantage of these events to honor women whose names now mark the public space. At the City Council, the decision was made to dedicate nine public spaces to women, including emblematic figures such as Clara Zetkin and Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
