Towards a digital transformation of schools: the digital plan for schools
In a constantly evolving world, the integration of digital technologies into education has become essential. Since 2020, several cities have taken bold initiatives to equip their schools with modern digital tools. This digital transformation is not limited to the installation of hardware, but also encompasses a range of resources and training designed to optimize learning and prepare students for the challenges of tomorrow. This article explores how the digital transformation of schools, particularly in Montpellier, marks a crucial turning point for the future of education.
The Implementation of the Digital Plan
Since 2020, many cities have recognized the need to modernize their education systems by incorporating advanced technologies into classrooms. The Digital Plan has equipped all schools, from kindergarten to fifth grade, with digital whiteboards and video projectors, replacing traditional teaching methods with interactive tools that capture students’ attention. Nearly 1,200 laptops were distributed, taking their place in every classroom and within each school administration. This development allowed teachers to vary their teaching methods, thus enriching the students’ learning experience through interactive and collaborative approaches.
Mobile Classrooms
An additional innovation of the Digital Plan is the introduction of mobile classrooms. These kits, containing between 9 and 15 digital tablets, were delivered to almost all schools. They offer students the opportunity to discover and explore the digital world independently, while enhancing their ability to work in groups.
Schools involved in digital educational territories Since 2022, 13 schools in Montpellier, particularly those located in the Cévennes-Malbosc neighborhoods, have participated in the digital educational territories program.
