Event Summary: City Center in Lights
Montpellier will be illuminated from November 13th to 15th for the 10th edition of “City Center in Lights.” This magical event transforms the city center into a luminous stage where 13 iconic landmarks tell the story of Montpellier’s history and culture through captivating light displays. The Arc de Triomphe will be the setting for “Charlie’s Memories” and “Montpellier Odyssey,” exploring themes of memory and friendship. Meanwhile, Saint-Pierre Cathedral will resonate with “Memories of O” and “Howl – Harmony of the Four Beats,” highlighting the city’s relationship with nature.
Screening Schedule
The shows will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., allowing viewers to enjoy several venues in a single evening. Each screening, lasting between 3 minutes 30 seconds and 8 minutes, will be repeated continuously. Between each screening, 5- to 10-minute breaks are scheduled to ensure smooth flow of visitors, who are known to be numerous each year. Access and Transportation During the event, access to the city center will be regulated to guarantee a pleasant experience for everyone. It is recommended to use bicycles
and
public transportation
to get to the venues. Additional infrastructure, such as bicycle racks, will be installed for the occasion. Secure parking on level -1 of the Comédie will be available free of charge for holders of the free admission pass. Tram lines will run more frequently, although line 4 will be partially suspended for the duration of the event. To ensure spectator safety, certain roads, particularly around Place Max Rouquette, will be closed to vehicles from 5:00 PM to 11:30 PM.
Parking and restrictions The Foch Préfecture and Arc de Triomphe parking lots will be closedduring the projection times. It is also important to note that parking for two-wheeled vehicles will be prohibited on Boulevard Henri IV. For those who prefer to come by car, it is advisable to park in one of the parking lots on the outskirts of the city or those near the tram stations.
