The Montpellier University Hospital (CHU de Montpellier) is embarking on an innovative approach to transform its hospital resource management by adopting the reuse of medical equipment. Thanks to its collaboration with MyTroc Pro, a specialized platform, the hospital is not only achieving substantial savings but also reducing its environmental impact. This strategy, already proven in other institutions, demonstrates the effectiveness of reuse in meeting the current challenges facing healthcare facilities. A new management model at the Montpellier University Hospital Faced with increasing budgetary constraints and the need to reduce environmental impact, the Montpellier University Hospital has decided to review its operations. Its objective is to save money and optimize the use of its medical resources. This internal review is being conducted with the help of MyTroc Pro, which offers an innovative and effective equipment reuse model. The MyTroc Pro platform: a unique asset for healthcare facilitiesMyTroc Pro plays a crucial role in this project by providing a solution that allows Montpellier University Hospital to

inventory and reallocate unused equipment.

Troops, hospital beds, supplies, and therapeutic devices are thus redirected to other departments or facilities within the group. This not only avoids the purchase of new equipment but also promotes optimal use of existing equipment.

Impressive and measurable results

The benefits of this approach were immediate. In less than a year, Montpellier University Hospital exceeded its environmental and financial objectives.by avoiding 15 tons of waste and saving €167,000 on equipment not purchased. As Morgane Morat, CSR project coordinator, explains, this success aligns perfectly with contemporary challenges of sustainability and responsible management.

Environmental Impact of the Healthcare Sector The healthcare sector is known to be a significant contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, accounting for 8% of national emissions. Institutions like Montpellier University Hospital, by adopting more environmentally friendly practices, are actively participating in the transition to a more sustainable healthcare ecosystem. Every effort to reduce the amount of waste produced contributes to this overall objective.

A Strategy Applicable to Other Institutions

The reuse of medical equipment is not an isolated innovation. Other institutions, such as the Grand Paris North-East Hospital Group and the EMEIS nursing home group, have already successfully adopted this strategy. The University Hospital of Montpellier illustrates how this approach can be effectively integrated to optimize resource management in the medical sector.
