First incident: An alert in the middle of the night In the early hours of Saturday, January 24, around 2:15 a.m., law enforcement was alerted by the management of a nightclub in the Montpellier area. A 31-year-old man, a resident of Castelnau-le-Lez, was caught selling ecstasy pills inside the establishment. In total, more than 70 pills, priced between 5 and 10 euros each, were found on him. A search of his home led to a surprising discovery: hallucinogenic mushrooms, cannabis, and 18 more ecstasy pills were seized. During questioning, the man explained that he used this activity to pay off personal debts. Despite the seriousness of his actions, he was released on bail and summoned to appear in court by a summons issued by a Judicial Police Officer. Second incident: Another alarming discovery

A second similar case occurred on the night of Saturday, January 25, around 4:00 a.m. A 24-year-old man was caught red-handed selling ecstasy in another nightclub in the city. Police found 22 ecstasy pills on him, ready for sale.

A search of this individual’s home revealed the astonishing presence of an additional 280 pills. and €1,250 in cash. During questioning, the suspect claimed the drugs were for his personal use and the money represented tips from his work. Finding his explanations implausible, the magistrates summoned him before the prosecutor’s representative for a plea bargain.
